J. Scott Stephenson
A native Georgian, Scott attended Auburn University from 1971 to 1975 and then returned to his hometown of Albany, GA to assist in the family business. After this business was sold, he joined the US Navy in 1981, serving both on active duty until 1985 and then as a reservist until he was honorably discharged in 1992.
Scott attended the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Accounting in 1991 and a Masters of Professional Accountancy - Tax in 1992. He began his accounting career in Atlanta with Arthur Andersen, LLP, a 'big six" CPA firm in its International Tax department. In his role as an International Tax Specialist, he provided tax research and financial analysis for several global client companies and specializing in foreign tax law and structure relative to foreign company acquisitions by US companies and expatriate tax compliance issues. Major clients included Southern Company, BellSouth, Georgia-Pacific, Melita international Corporation and Scientific Atlanta.
He then took a position at Melita International Corporation, a small, privately-held, high-tech hardwar & software company in Norcross, GA, as its Tax Manager. After participatimg in the sucessful IPO of the company, he returned to public practice at Rollins & Associates, an Atlanta CPA and investment firm as Tax Manager. In 1999. after moving to North Georgia, he began his own CPA practice to serve small business clients and provide seasonal contract services to other CPA firms.
He is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor since 2002, a Certified Enterprise Solutions ProAdvisor since 2007 and a Certified QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor since 2009.
