J. Scott Stephenson
J. Scott Stephenson, CPA, with 19 years of accounting & tax experience, has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1998. He is dedicated to helping clients make intelligent financial decisions and ethically minimize tax liability. His patience and determination ensure that every client is treated with high regard.
A Georgia native, he attended Auburn University from 1971 to 1975 studying Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, after which he returned to his hometown of Albany, GA to work in the family business. When the family business was sold, he joined the US Navy and served on active duty for 5 years, serving as a reservist for an additional 7 years. After his service in the US Navy, Scott earned a Bachelors of Science in Accounting in 1991 and a Masters of Professional Accountancy - Tax Emphasis in 1992 from the University of Utah. After internships with the Utah State Auditor and a CPA firm in Salt Lake City, his accounting career began at Arthur Andersen in Atlanta as an International Tax Specialist and then as Tax Manager at a Norcross, GA high-tech company. He also served on the tax staffs of local CPA firms in Atlanta and North Carolina before forming his own practice in 1997. He has maintained offices in Hall, Forsyth, and now in Dawson County in North Georgia. He has been a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor since 2002, a Certified Enterprise Solutions ProAdvisor since 2007 and is now an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor beginning in 2009.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys gardening, cooking, college football, and spending time with his family.
